San Juan

A rye cocktail which I call "a more flavorful Black Russian".

Place D'Armes Cocktail

A sweet grenadine flavor whisky cocktail. Goes down too easy, so be careful.

Jasper's Jamaican

Allspice is the star of this rum cocktail.

Dr. Funk

A very complex rum sour with agricole and absinthe, which is similar to Fireman's Sour. Very funky freshness. Good, once you get used to it.

Classic Peanut Butter Cookies

A very simple cookie recipe for 2 dozens of goodness :) A trick is to cool the dough before baking; that gives the light texture.

Japanese Cocktail

This brandy drink has the sweet almond flavor. Along with brandy and bitters, it creates a very enticing drink. The original recipe calls for 1/2 ounce of orgeat, but we thought that we enjoy an additional almond flavor. Adjust the sweetness with simple syrup.

Planter's Punch

This rum drink is one of the official cocktails of International Bartenders Association (IBA). The drink is big and alcoholic, but the little bit of sourness and the sweetness make it very easy to drink (so watch out!). The mint gives this drink a very nice refreshing aftertaste. So I usually rub the leave in my palms and dump into the drink for more flavor. According to wikipedia.com, the cocktail has been said to have originated at the Planters Hotel in Charleston, SC, but the recipe originates in Jamaica.

Waikikian

A very nutty & fruity sweet rum sour. If you are not up for the richness, this drink may be too big, so cut the recipe in half. For some reasons, I always picture me sitting in front of a fireplace, after dinner....when I think of this cocktail. Hope it gives you some clues on how it taste like :)

Mai Tai

A rum sour, which was purportedly invented at the Trader Vic's restaurant in Oakland, California in 1944. "Maita'i" means "good" in Tahitian, however the drink is spelled as two words, sometimes hyphenated or capitalized. This drink is great as a starter for a summer party.

Delightful Dede

A divine rum-base Tiki cocktail shared by our friend, Chris H. It has almond-cherry flavor with orange undertones.

Calvados Cocktail

Calvados is an apple brandy famously made in the Normandy region of France. This is a very light and fruity drink which is perfect for a summer party. According to Mr. Hess, original recipe of this drink calls for 3/4 ounce of orange bitters rather than 2 dashes of Angostura Aromatic bitters.

Ante Cocktail

The Ante Cocktail is a great way to enjoy Calvodos, an apple brandy from the Normandy region of France. It gives the drink sweet and gentle aroma and taste. If you cannot find one (or too expensive for your taste), you can substitute it with Applejack although it has a slightly different character.

Word 8

This whiskey sour was originally created in 1898 at the Locke-Ober restaurant in Boston. According to a story, this drink was served to honor the election of Martin Lomasney to the Massachusetts Senate, and Ward 8 refers to his election district. I am not a big fun of Tiki drink, especially with orange juice. However, this drink has a good balance of sourness and orange flavor on top of a hint of grenadine. It can make a good introduction for a Tiki drinker to more serious cocktail as well as a serious cocktail drinker to a Tiki cocktail.

Pasta with White Truffle Oil

My husband got me a bottle of white truffle oil for this Valentine's Day. This is my first 'truffle oil', so I picked a recipe which emphasize the character.

Lion's Tail Cocktail

This whiskey sour drink was on my wish-list for a while. But I was too cheap to buy a bottle of allspice liquor (Pimento Dram) knowing that this is the only cocktail I know it calls for. Then, our friend Chris H. made allspice liquor at home and brought it with him all the way from D.C. to N.Y. Too bad we didn't have time to try this drink together... What you need is a friend!!!! Thank you, Chris!!! By the way, this drink is full of flavor and remind me of fire in a fireplace. A good drink for a cold night.

Falernum

Falernum is a sweet syrup used in Caribbean and tropical drinks such as the Zombie.

Orgeat Syrup

The orgeat syrup is a sweet syrup made from almonds, sugar and rose water or orange flower water. It's used to add flavor in many rum cocktails such as the Mai Tai. It's pain in the neck to make it. But it's really tasty as it is, and I can drink it as a sweeten almond milk :) The original recipe calls for looooots of sugar, but I rather want to make it mildly sweet since I can always use a simple syrup to add sweetness to my drink. The picture shows you have much syrup you can make from this recipe.

Baked Buffalo Chicken Dip

A spicy chicken dip for any big get-together. The sharper, saltier tang of blue cheese dressing makes this dip so special! A small baked/roasted whole chicken at a grocery store works perfect. Just take all skins and bones out and you are ready to go!

Bacardi

A before-dinner rum sour drink. It's almost like Fireman's Sour but a bit lighter in taste.

Raspberry Syrup
