Homemade Icecream
Ingredients 6 pints half and half 1 pint heavy whipping cream 3 cups sugar 4 tablespoons vanilla salt
| This is the recipe for the homemade icecream my Dad made when I was a kid. You need an icecream maker. We used an electric one, but I guess you could hand crank it if you wanted to.
Makes 2 gallons.
Directions
Put all in the inside of the icecream maker.
Put ice and rock salt around the container & start the machine up. You may need to continue to add ice and rock salt. The idea is that the ice cold water is up against the outside of the inner container, thereby making the ice cream colder.
Continue for at least 30 minutes, then check to see how solid the ice cream is. It should be a soft consistency, but not soupy. Put in the freezer for a bit, then serve.
